6:42 am. March 7, 2013. A little voice loudly whispered into my ear "Mom! Am I FIVE now! TODAY? Is it my birthday TODAYYY!?" came the loud whisper. "Yes. Today, you are finally five!" I responded back
as I swooped off the bed for a birthday hug. "Do I get to go to kindergarten today?!! Can I put on my kindergarten shirt now?!" "Ummm, not yet bud. Not till the fall." I said. "Oh. OK. Well, is my party today?! Do I get to see my cousins today?!" "Not till Saturday, but today we get to go on a date to build-a-bear!" I said hopefully. "OK! Just me and you Mom?" "Yup. Just me and my buddy." He smiled a big smile and finally returned the hug I was still smothering him with. My boy is 5. And I couldn't be prouder of him!
He had been asking for weeks, how many days mom? How many weeks mom? Finally the day had come. My newly 5 year old boy was beaming all day long. We started with one of his presents from Mom and Dad, Wreck-it-Ralph. He'd been dying to obtain his very own copy of his favorite flick. We've gotten our money's worth out of this one for sure.
After Wreck-it-Ralph, we partook of our newest birthday tradition. Doughnuts and chocolate milk for breakfast. Of course, chosen by the birthday boy.
Much to the chagrin of myself, but much to the joy of his siblings, he picked lunchables for lunch. (and chicken and smashed potatoes for dinner... much more to my liking!)
"I'm Gonna Wreck It!!" I really do think this kid could have a future in construction. He loves demo. Building precariously constructed towers of blocks, cardboard bricks or whatever, then smashing them to pieces. I'm pretty sure that's his favorite pass time.
After our date to Build-A-Bear, he snuggled into his bed with his new fluffy penguin. Named "Pop-Fizz". "only two more days till my party, right Mom?" "Yes son." I replied as I kissed his head. "MOM! Stop kissing me, I know, I know, I love you too!" Guess I laid it on a bit thick today. I just can't help it. I love my munchkins something fierce. Finally it was Saturday. Time for his Wreck-it-Ralph, pizza party with his cousins. He was so excited! Pop-Fizz had to come along, of course.
Everybody loves pizza.
And because my Ollie has never been a "color in the lines" kind of kid, he wanted angry bird cupcakes, as opposed to wreck-it-ralph. No matchy match here :0) Love it.
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Ollie! Happy birthday to you!
After cupcakes and presents, we watched wreck-it-ralph and the boys played Wii. A good time was had by all. I packed up three tired kiddos and headed down to the in-laws for a little more celebrating.
Love. Love. Love, these munchkins.
Sometimes Ba Noi likes to get tricky with her wrapping, hahaha. It was a fun game for Ollie to dig out his present! Of course, it was just what he asked for.
I am so, so proud of my Mama's boy! He is smart, handsome, loyal and I couldn't imagine living my life without his infectious giggles! We love you Ollie!! Happy Happy Birthday To You!!
