Ava's First Day of Preshool!

I remember the day she was born like it was yesterday.  My swollen belly was brimming with life, the remarks from strangers growing increasingly shocking ("you're not trying to steal a basketball are you? Tell me that's a baby!" said one Sports Authority employee) Oh my.  And yet, here we are.  It's like my life is on fast forward and I can't find the stop (or rewind!) button!

She is as spunky and vibrant today as she was on that very first day of life.  This little lady, my baby, my only girl.  How I cherish you my little darling.  I waited until you were inside those colorful walls of your preschool to shed a few tears.  My shopping buddy.  My sweet, sweet tender hearted angel.  It's a good thing we are easing into this whole thing.  Twice a week for two hours.  Next year, twice a week for three hours.  Then half day of kindergarten.  Visions of little blue engines come to mind. I think I can, I think I can, I KNOW I can.

So Brave.  "I won't cry, Mom.  Not at all, ok?" "Ok, darling".  It's a good thing she didn't make me promise not to.
I was a little nervous dropping her off.  Mostly because every time we had seen her teacher at the soccer fields (since her daughter plays at the same field as the boys) Ava shriveled up behind my leg and turned into a mute.  We talked a lot about what was going to happen and how fun it was going to be to meet new friends, and have some old friends that would be in her class.  She lit up when she found out her bud Shae is going to be in her class.  Before class we dropped the boys off at school then headed out to breakfast.  A girls only, preschool breakfast.  She chose to eat a cookie and orange juice.  At least the orange juice was healthy.

She came out of her class with the biggest smile I've ever seen. "MAMA! I had FUN!" She rambled in the back seat all the way home.  Telling me all the things her teacher had told them that day.  "I had bunny snacks, and we played outside!" she beamed.  "But, don't touch the cat.  Miss Crystal said she's kind of mean." She said in her best mama warning voice.  Sigh.

She wore her special "be brave" bracelet that she made but tried to give it to me right before class.  Sweet girl.  We gave each other a kissing hand and off she went.  She didn't even look back! Proud Mama, right here.

I LIVE for YOU my little darlings.  The three of you, complete me.
