I can't believe there are only two weeks left of summer! Which, in the past, hasn't mattered much. But this year, with Kahner starting pre-school and finally being old enough to start sports, it is going to change everything around our house. I have spent almost 5 years just home with my kiddos, doing as we please day after day. No real schedule to hold to, no mad dashes out the door trying to get to school on time. So this year I am finding myself already longing for those summer days before they are even gone.
One of the things I will miss is slip n' slide playdates. We have had so much fun slippin' and slidin' with friends, and just on our own, this summer. Anyone interested in trying to squeeze some slippin and sliddin' in before school starts, just email me... no really! I am going to savor every last day of summer while it lasts.
If you're not convinced, here's some fun action shots to lure you in...
| There's the water table, for those needing to ease into the water scene... |
| If you happen to get bored of the same old stuff, feel free to get creative. Cups filled with slippery slide water is sure to thrill when thrown on an unsuspecting victim... |
| or just stick with the basics. |
| you could kick it in the kiddie pool (best 5 bucks I've ever spent!) |
| we have bikini babes with diaper tooshies |
and warm towels to snuggle shivering munchkins
But alas, those summer days, often times (at least this summer), turned into these...
| Black, heavy clouds, force us indoors. |
Which my children, happily turned into these...
| afternoons, full of messes and giggles |
| Ohhhhhhhhhh, blue and green makes turquoise! Ollie likes to see how big a mess he can make while Kahner is very organized and concerned about any splatters of paint coming his way :P |
| the best part for Kahner was helping make the stuff |
| Ava didn't care what she had, she just liked being able to make a mess without getting into trouble |
| why not use two hands for double the fun? |
| A little taste test... YUCK! |
The best part about
this stuff is that it is mostly made of soap and corn starch. Cheap. Easy. Clean. Fun.
So to the busy days ahead of driving to and from school and soccer and everything else, I say, bring it on! I am going to enjoy these last lazy days of summer while they last. And here's hoping for an indian summer to make up for the long winter.
